18th century typographer Giambattista Bodoni said that an individual character must display four virtues, "regularity, clarity, good taste and charm." For French artist Claude Closky that may be true but 26 letters in the alphabet just isn't enough to work through all the possibilities so Closky has added 74 more in his lovely installation. It's a part of "Ecritures Silencieuses," currently on display in Paris. A single thing and a couple sentences each weekday morning, that's The Daily Eye. -jc.11.23.09 #
