Geoff Manaugh writes at BLDGBLOG, "In the desert 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles is a suburb abandoned in advance of itself --the unfinished extension of a place called California City." Sure it's a metaphor for the state of the economy and the overbuilt nature of the housing market but somehow when I see this landscape of broken, empty roads and parkways all I can think about is Chariots of The Gods.
