This is our studio site. Among lots of other things, we run Field Notes Brand,
go there right now and spend lots of money. Thanks.
Field-Tested by Christy Collins
in Baldwin, NY
In high school, I was reading The Stranger. There was a boy whose last name was close to mine in alphabetical order and he sat in front of me in several classes.
His mom died. He came back to school after being out for a week and he asked me how the book was. I said it was good, but a little weird and he could get a sense of it by just reading the first page. He read it, didn't say much, and handed the book back to me and then I read the first page. The first sentence is something like “Mother died today.” Then it goes on about how ambivalent he is about it. Now, I don't remember ANYTHING else about the book except for the way I accidentally tortured Billy Greitzer with it.
